FAQs

A quilted wall hanging featuring a large black tree with green and red leaves and round red fruits on a pink background. The quilt has a blue and red diamond border and a banner at the bottom that reads 'Make Art Not War', with a white dove carrying an olive branch and a small sign attached to one of the tree's branches that says 'Peace!'

What makes handmade quilts and quilted goods different from mass-produced ones?

Handmade quilts and quilted pillow shams are crafted with care, patience, and artistry that simply can’t be matched by factory-made items. Every stitch is done with intention, using 100% cotton batting, 100% cotton thread, and the highest-quality 100% cotton fabrics. The result is a piece that is durable, breathable, beautiful, and truly unique. Unlike mass-produced items, no two of my quilts are exactly alike—each one is an heirloom-quality piece of art.

Why do handmade items cost more?

The cost reflects the materials and the time invested. I use only the best natural materials—pure cotton batting, premium fabrics, and high-quality cotton threads—that ensure comfort and longevity. Each quilt, sham, art doll, or card requires many hours of handwork, design, and finishing. You’re not just purchasing a product—you’re investing in something created with skill, care, and individuality, something that will last and carry meaning for years to come.

Are your items one of a kind?

Yes. Every quilt, art doll, and card I create is unique. Because I design, cut, piece, and stitch each item by hand, there are never two exactly the same. Even my letterpress cards—though printed from the same design—are hand-pressed one at a time on cotton and premium-quality papers, so each has subtle variations that make it truly special.

What materials do you use in your quilts?

I use 100% cotton batting for breathability and softness, 100% cotton thread for durability, and the best-quality 100% cotton fabrics for richness of color and texture. These materials not only make the quilts more comfortable and long-lasting, but they also age beautifully over time.

What kind of paper do you use for your letterpress cards and tags?

I print on 100% cotton papers as well as a carefully chosen selection of premium papers known for their luxurious feel and ability to capture letterpress impressions beautifully. Each card is hand-printed one at a time, giving it a depth and texture you simply can’t get from digital printing.

How should I care for my handmade quilt?

For best results, machine wash on gentle with cold water and mild detergent, then air dry or tumble dry on low. Like all fine textiles, a handmade quilt will last longer if handled with care. Over time, quilts gain a soft, lived-in beauty that adds to their charm.
